(Excerpts from client letters)
Sharon Kessler:
The day I met Heather, I couldn’t turn my head. My face was numb and I had a constant searing pain in my neck and down the left side of my back. My hands were numb. I was simply a mess. In 2001, I had been in a car crash and a few months later had fallen off my bike. After months and months of traditional physical therapy, I was still in almost constant excruciating pain. I was so desperate for some sleep and pain relief that when a friend recommended that I try Heather Wallace, I didn’t hesitate.
The first session helped, and gradually and gently Heather taught me how to trace and tuck. Instead of avoiding the pain or ignoring the pain, Heather helped me realize that I had to know the pain to control it. Knowing your pain and patience are the keys to the Wallace Method. But it works. It’s not a quick fix, like a pill, or a dramatic fix, like surgery, but it works. I can honestly say, I know my own body better than I ever have. I can feel myself from the inside out and adjust my posture to relieve pain. It’s simple and complicated at the same time, but it has given me my life back.

Elizabeth Streeter:
I was close to desperate by the time I had my first appointment with Heather Wallace in the fall of 2004. I was in near constant pain from chronic migraines. If I didn't have a full blown headache, I worried about getting one… Treatment with the Wallace Method literally changed my life. I think the most significant benefit is the change in how I perceive and experience my body. I no longer feel like a helpless victim of pain… After years of chronic migraine pain, I am so grateful to Heather for giving me back my life.

PEDIATRIC PODIATRIST COMMENTS:
Evaluation: Botox injections, physical therapy, and casts and splinting. Unfortunately, the braces provided caused significant discomfort and caused skin rashes and fungal infections of the feet.
Samantha has toe walking and lower extremity contractures. She has had a difficult time maintaining a platigrade foot position with walking which has interfered with endurance and stability of her gait. She has been involved in a therapy (Heather Wallace Method) administered through an exercise therapist that has helped with range of motion and improvement in her overall gait.
This therapy program (Heather Wallace Method) has substituted for physical therapy program and has been helping improve her functional walking. Given that this has been valuable for Samantha’s development and has been associated with improvement in her ambulation, I would recommend that she continue with this therapy in lieu of physical therapy.
Although this therapy (Heather Wallace Method) is not given directly by a physical therapist, it is achieving goals that we would expect from direct therapy, and Samantha has been benefiting from it.
PEDIATRICIAN COMMENTS:
Physical therapy provided by Heather Wallace increased Samantha’s range of motion and has kept the toe walking away, and has provided excellent results. She is an experienced therapist who deals with chronic pain and difficult patients. I believe Ms. Wallace would provide the best care for Samantha, supporting both her physical needs and emotional needs. Therefore, I recommend that an exception be made to allow Samantha to use Heather Wallace for physical therapy until there is not further need for care.
SAMANTHA’S MOM COMMENTS:
Samantha’s Mom used the Heather Wallace Method for approximately one year, for one hour per day along with Heather Wallace, to achieve unbelievable positive results. After a check-up between Samantha and Pediatric Podiatrist, Samantha’s Mom received a phone call from the Pediatric Podiatrist, stating the amazing progress that Samantha has made, there is no longer any concern about ankle, and or back surgery. The Pediatric Podiatrist also was inquiring on what and how The Heather Wallace Method works.

Without Heather I would have had a hip replacement by now. Because of Heather I rarely get injuries and when I do, she has taught me how take care of my body and deal with them.

I have been working with Heather for 10 - 12 years. I came with concerns about increasing discomfort from carpal-tunnel syndrome in my right arm; chronic aches in my right shoulder, neck, etc….Heather has given me a range of motion I did not know I had lost... When I came I was wearing a wrist brace several nights per week…was contemplating wrist surgery...[[now]I have not worn a wrist brace in years ... and the left arm has never developed the full-blown symptoms that were on my right side…I am aware of a "body-recuperative" ability…I am now able to "diagnose" some of the uncomfortable positions [from playing the cello sitting on uncomfortable chairs; gardening; working in a craft shop with kids] and prescribe remedies for myself…In the process of stretching me, Heather has gently wound me into the most unbelievable positions - I never knew I could bend in those ways - and it felt terrific!

It was a blessing in October of 1990 that I was told of Heather Wallace… My legs were solid lumps the size of marbles…Spurs were on both heels of my feet…My next step was crutches or a wheelchair… My hands and arms were just as much in pain as my legs…I was a candidate for knee replacement, and I said, "No way." I had had several knee surgeries already…The more I continued with Heather, the more my body called for me to stretch by myself daily…I have learned something about myself each time I go…I am very grateful to Heather for all the time, concern and help she has given me over the years. I am grateful that others see the wisdom in this work to continue it.
