HEATHER WALLACE BIO
Born in the mid-1930s, Heather Wallace grew up in the depression/war era of the small-town Midwest, where people took time to listen and visit with children…to acknowledge them and their questions and ideas.
The hallmarks of Heather’s life…Determination, Curiosity, and Independence…show themselves at every turning point. She began school early because she just kept showing up. Her first real job came from the Air Force where she not only trained and became a radio mechanic, but discovered what would become a passion…climbing. Then it was poles, and today it is rocks.
Heather’s lifelong love of reading and books brought her a second job in the mid70s when she joined Great Books as the program director for Minneapolis and the surrounding area. Through associates in this program Heather was introduced to yoga, which became the next focus of her life. She excelled as a student and practitioner, then as an instructor, and eventually went to India for further development.
On her return, the offer of a job in a chronic pain program provided Heather with the next major turning point in her life. She was hired as a teacher of yoga and meditation, but that position evolved as she observed the physical therapist who shared her workspace. The ideas that would grow to the Wallace Method were already germinating. Assuming that their assignment of “making the clients well” was real, Heather made that her goal, seeking new paths to bring relief and sustained improvement to each of them.
Heather explored new approaches in Trager, myofacial, and cranial sacral work as she studied to master level, but they still did not achieve the potential she knew was possible. After leaving the hospital in the early 90s, Heather continued experimenting, developing her unique approach, and building a private practice in Minneapolis. Today she has a cadre of practitioners in that area.
In the mid90s, Heather discovered Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It did not take long for her to buy a vacation home there and eventually to begin to do what she loves best…seeing clients in Mexico who want to get better through the Wallace Method.
